Dr. Remco M. Groenenberg

TNO

Remco joined TNO as a senior scientist in 2018 and is presently the scientific lead for subsurface energy storage in the Applied Geosciences research group of TNO’s Energy and Materials Transition unit.
Prior to TNO, he held several positions in industry and academia, working on R&D, demonstration and commercialization in the fields of subsurface energy storage, CO2 storage, geothermal energy production, and oil and gas exploration and production. He leads the European-funded HyUSPRe project that assesses the feasibility of hydrogen storage in porous reservoirs, and is co-author of the recently published Technology Monitoring Report on underground H2 storage of Task 42 of the H2 technology collaboration programme of the IEA.
He represents TNO in the Executive Board of EASE, the European Association for Storage of Energy.
Remco holds a PhD in Applied Earth Sciences from Delft University of Technology, and an MSc in Geology from Utrecht University.
