TB 21/18 - Recommendations for Cooling and Heating of Gas Cylinders (New publication)

Gas cylinders can sometimes be used intentionally at temperatures that are lower or higher than ambient temperature.

This Technical Bulletin gives a number of recommendations and considers the cases of full and empty cylinders.

The Technical Bulletin does not address the risks of cylinders exposed to fire, where the cylinder pressure will increase dramatically and can result in bursting of the cylinder.

Only those who have been trained and authorised should be involved in the cooling or heating of gas cylinders.

This Bulletin is intended for those personnel who are involved in operations that either cool or heat cylinders.
